Interest group Activities

Interest groups are formed by individuals from our PROBUS Club membership who have a common interest in a particular activity. An interest group usually meets periodically throughout the year on whatever schedule the group decides. Groups have no formal attendance requirements; most are at no cost and members get to socialize while being involved in the group’s activities.

Genealogy – Coordinator Neil Kilmartin OPEN TO NEW MEMBERS

Our group meets every month to discuss family history.  We welcome people with any degree of genealogical experience, right from the newbie to the seasoned family historian. Our focus tends to be on “sharing our individual experiences”, though there are occasions where we vary from the topic at hand!

There is also an interest within our group regarding local history.  On occasion, we have had guest speakers who have addressed genealogy, DNA and local history.  Guidance and initial help researching and documenting is always available.  Our group consists of members from both the Port Perry Probus club as well as the Scugog/Uxbridge Probus club.   We are definitely looking for new members!

We have changed our venue from the Scugog Library to my family .

We meet the first Wednesday of each month, September to June, from 10amto Noon.  The next meeting will be on November 5th, and some members will likely share anecdotes and artifacts from   ancestors engaged in previous conflicts.
