Welcome to the Scugog-Uxbridge Probus Community Hub

Witness Blanket Exhibit

This fall, a profound work of art and testimony is coming to Durham Region (East Central Ontario Regional Council). The Witness Blanket—a powerful national monument created by artist Carey Newman—will be on display at Trinity-St. Andrew’s United Church in Cannington, Ontario from September 7 to October 18, 2025. Admission is free, open daily from 12 noon to 8 PM (closed Mondays).

Made from hundreds of reclaimed items—a school door, letters, clothing, and personal belongings—The Witness Blanket honours Survivors of the residential school system and tells the truth of this painful chapter in our Church’s history (and in Canada’s history). It also challenges us to commit ourselves to listen, reflect, and continue the ongoing work of truth, healing, and reconciliation.

Sharon Woodrow can be reached during the Exhibit at the following email: witnessblanket2025@gmail.com.

Music & Lyrics by Dolly Parton, Book by Patricia Resnick

Directed by Liz Auston

Music Direction by Alissa Smith

Presented by SCS Musicals

9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the 1980 monster hit movie starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Mr. Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women take control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she?

Set in 1979, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. With its jubilant score and easily relatable characters, 9 to 5 is the perfect show for community theatres.
